The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Foundation Inc. received a $4,300.00 grant from Sparklight to expand our Youth Entrepreneur Program in the Fall! Our Youth Entrepreneur Committee joined us for a check presentation with representatives from Sparklight on July 2nd here at the Chamber in Anniston. We've operated this program since 2023 and this is a huge win for our students.
This grant will allow us to provide more resources for our participants, but also one lucky Youth Entrepreneur will receive a full Business EXPO booth setup for our event in October!

Our Youth Entrepreneurs are between 8 - 18 years old and must be enrolled in public/private school or homeschool in Calhoun County. Previous YE students have already had their small businesses in operation before joining our program, but this Fall we will open the program to students that are interested in starting a business so they can learn from their peers and our Chamber member Mentors as well.

Good News from our friends at Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund! Have you ever considering that the Alabama taxes you already owe could help transform a student's future?

In a new op-ed published in 1819 News, Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund Development Director Sherri Rowton explores how the Alabama Accountability Act gives eligible taxpayers a unique opportunity to direct a portion of their state tax liability toward scholarships for K-12 students instead of sending those dollars to Montgomery.

Right now nearly 38 million dollars remain available, leaving scholarship opportunities on the table for Alabama families.

Whether you're a taxpayer, CPA, or an attorney advising clients, understanding how this program works can help more Alabama students access the educational opportunities they deserve.

Read Sherri's op-ed to learn how your Alabama tax dollars can make a lasting impact. Read More
