Montgomery, Alabama- On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (Alabama Chambers) will host the 2025 National Civics Bee aimed at encouraging more young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Twelve middle-school students from across Alabama will participate in the competition to demonstrate their civics knowledge and discuss how they would solve a problem facing their community.
“We are facing a civics crisis in America. Surveys show that 70% of adults cannot pass a basic civics quiz, and 79% of 8th graders fall below proficiency in civics. This threatens the strength, prosperity, and resilience of our nation. The National Civics Bee is dedicated to enhancing civics knowledge, skills, and disposition among young people and adults alike, inspiring the next generation to make a positive impact in their communities.” said Hilary Crow, Vice President, Civics, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
The competition will be held at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, beginning at 9:30am on Friday, July 18, 2025, and follows the completion of 4 regional competitions which each advanced 3 students to the state finals. The state competition is free to attend and open to the public.
The 12 finalist are as follows: Caron K, Covenant Christian School; Ava P, Covenant Christina School; Abby H, Covenant Christian School; Caroline R, Abeka Academy; Lucas G, Dauphin Junior High School; Olivia B, Auburn Junior High School; Madison C, Legacy Builders Academy; Zella C, Good Hope Middle School; Maxwell D, Northridge Middle School; Christa M, Skyline High School, Rohan S, Journey Middle School; and Keelee K, Skyline High School.
