From Paige’s Desk in August

August proved to be a hot month in Alabama (isn’t it always) and your Alabama Chambers team was hot on the road working and visiting.

The month kicked off with the largest BCA Government Affairs Conference to date! It was phenomenal weekend at The Grand in Point Clear with BCA, government and business leaders from across Alabama. Kudos to the entire BCA team for a job well done!

A planning trip to Tuscaloosa was on the schedule for August 12, to see the newly renovated Embassy Suites, our upcoming site for 2025 Professional Development Conference presented by The Fund. Have you registered yet? We are planning a great conference and visit, along with our host chamber, Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama and Visit Tuscaloosa.

Karla was in Daleville on August 13, providing a great Canva training for members of the Daleville Chamber of Commerce. Thank you Michelle for being a great host and supporting your members!

The next week your Alabama Chambers board and staff spent quality time at the Alabama 4H Center in Columbiana for a strategic planning and board retreat! Great things are in the works to help grow your state association and to meet the needs of you- our members.

The next day, August 21, we hit the road again for the Regional Meeting hosted by the incomparable Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce team. You know it is going to be a great day when they have their local coffee shop on hand to fuel us up, a beautiful grazing table, and a gathering of wonderful chamber professionals.

The week rounded out on August 22, when I was able to join Vanessa Royal, IOM, the returning executive director for the Wetumpka Chamber of Commerce for her first luncheon where we heard from Congressman Gary Palmer.

Because we just don’t let grass grow under our feet, Sunday, August 23, I headed to Alabama’s Gulf Coast and The Lodge for the Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism. It was great to connect (and reconnect) with so many of our friends on the tourism side. There are great things happening across our state and so many of our chambers are working hard for their communities to attract visitors.

August was certainly a great month of connection and reconnection. We officially signed on to be the state partner for the 2026 National Civics Bee, met with some of our great affiliate members, and planned for a bright future. It continues to be an honor to serve each of you. Now, grab that Pumpkin Spice Latte, put on those team colors and let’s celebrate the “Ber” months and my favorite time of year.
